Today we speak with Globo Logic’s CEO Jason De Mamiel about Whats to Buy and the future. Globo Logic own and manage Whats to Buy group of sites.

Reporter: We know that Whats to Buy is an online shopping site, where and why did it begin?

Jason: Whats to Buy was an idea I had after seeing so many shopping sites that specialize in either niche products or a very small product range. By having a “one stop online shop” for all your needs, rather than having to sift through multiple sites to find what you need, will not only save the consumer time and money, but also make it easier to keep track of the purchases. That’s why I created Whats to Buy, to be the Biggest Online Shopping Site.

Reporter: Who is Jason De Mamiel and Globo Logic?

Jason: Thats a good one, I am no one important, just another person struggling to make a living in a world that is getting more and more expensive to live in. I have over 20 years experience working in the IT Industry. I have worked with some fantastic CEO’s over the years and some that are not so great. I have seen what they have done extremely well and at times where they have gone wrong. I created Globo Logic Pty Ltd with the vision of producing innovative and user friendly IT Solutions to enable visitors of my sites to explore and obtain information easily. Globo Logic provides IT, Shopping and Video Solutions to anyone from home users to business of any size.

Author: Tell us a bit about these solutions:

Jason: Sure, Our IT Solutions are everything and anything related to IT - computers, networks, projects, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Disaster Recovery, Systems upgrades and software.
Our Shopping Solution is e-commerce. We setup and host shopping sites. Whats to Buy is our main product here.
Our Video Solution - this is quite new, but already starting to gain lot of attention, we offer 2-way chat, video conferencing, live support, TV/radio stations solutions that can be hosted on your own website. Our video solutions are great at cost savings, especially between branches around the world or interstate. If you have our video conferencing solution on your site, you can then have video/audio meetings with your staff from anywhere around the world. Our video solutions are great for all industries like recruitment for example. We will be releasing our video recorder product soon where you could record your resume in video or hold a 2-way chat with candidates instead of having to meet in the CBD. Author: We notice that Whats to Buy is becoming well noticed in search engines, how have you accomplished this?

Jason: We have spent a lot of time reviewing our websites, what our content is and how we can improve our SEO. We manage over 165 websites so it is a challenge. Our Whats to Buy brand hasn’t had any money spent on advertising.

Author: So if you’ve spent no money on advertising, how have you done so well with SEO?

Jason: SEO is quite easy, there are a lot of tricks you can do, that don’t cost anything. SEO companies make money advising you to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on SEO, which is simply not true. It may
however cost you if your website isn’t coded for SEO and has to be redesigned. Globo Logic offers SEO services.

Author: Whats your motto and how do you deliver it?

Jason: We live by our motto “The Biggest Online Shopping Site”, you need lots of products to sell online. We believe in giving our customers the largest range of products to choose from. We currently have over 1000 products with lots more to come.

Author: Tell us more about Whats to Buy

Jason: Whats to Buy is about providing more products for people to choose from, we want people to not only save money, but also save time purchasing everything from the one place. This will also save in postage costs.

Author: We noticed that you had a USA shop, what happened with Whats to Buy USA?

Jason: We had a deal with a supplier in the USA but they were unable to deliver. We had a lot of issues with them. So we decided to stop dealing with them. We wanted to save face and make sure we offer the best service possible to our customers. We are looking at other avenues for our USA Store. We do however ship from our Australian store to anywhere in the world.

Author: What about the other shops - UK, Europe, Canada?

Jason: Setting up shops in various countries is a challenge. We want to make sure we partner with companies that will deliver to our high standards. We are working hard on building our brand so people know Whats to Buy and find our products reasonably priced. We are currently in the middle of negotiations with a UK supplier.

Author: Tell us more about Whats to Buy Asia

Jason: We decided to try something different with our Whats to Buy Asian site. With this site we decided to sell items that you can customise. There is nothing like receiving a personalized gift. With this site you can take a picture and put it on just about anything. You could take a picture of your baby, stick it on a magnet and send it to the grandparents, or make some great gifts for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Christmas or any other seasonal or religious celebration. We have loaded some pictures on the site for our customers, but the site is more about you creating your own personalised items.

Author: Whats with all the Whats to Buy Domain Names?

Jason: Its part of our strategy of becoming the Biggest Online Shopping Site. We believe we have the names required to help our strategy and will be moving on them soon. Take for example our TV/Radio Station for Whats to Buy is on www.whatstobuy.tv. We are also looking at having our products on www.whatstobuy.mobi for mobile users. We are looking at ways we can use these domain names to market our brand. We constantly get asked is our web address www.whatstobuy.com.au it seems that we just take for granted all companies use the com.au in Australia. We didn’t have that domain until recently as it made sense because so many people think it is our primary URL.

Author: Most shopping sites use SSL for the check out, why do you do it differently?

Jason: SSL is HTTPS for those who aren’t aware, it makes the content being submitted more secured. Banks use it for example when logging into your account. We decided to make the whole site secured, we know that it is probably over the top, but we want our customers to feel very secure knowing that we are taking their personal information seriously, especially credit card details. We want our customers to feel shopping at Whats to Buy is a secured as it possibly can be.

Author: What other things are in the pipeline?

Jason: We can’t say too much as we like to lead in solutions, we are currently reviewing our existing websites. We have over 165 websites and lots of them still need to be built. Whats to Buy has taken a lot of time to get up and working and it continues to grow. We reached over 1000 products, we still have thousands of products to go. We currently are building the Video Solution as well, so there is a lot going on.

Author: Where do you see Globo Logic in the future?

Jason: Well, hopefully a very successful business that is employing staff who are happy to be working for us. We turn a lot of our profits back into the business and our staff. I am trying to foster a corporate culture that attracts and retains creative, practical and energetic employees who are driven to “Make Technology an Asset for your business not a Problem”. I see Globo Logic being a very big business that will make other sites wonder how Globo Logic did it.
